Jon Huston, NPC Bodybuilder

Jon HustonMy name is Jon Huston and I have known Jeremy Minihan since 1997. We began training at a small gym in Moore and we both weighed the same: 185. Of course I am 5’10” and he’s over 6’2”!!! Our workouts began basically feeling each other out and determining what our goals were. It was obvious from the beginning that Jeremy had a fantastic exuberance for bodybuilding and that we both wanted to improve. He was never late for a training session and always showed up prepared.

After graduating college I moved away but continued to lift; ever mindful of the fantastic relationship I had with Jeremy. In 2000 he convinced me to begin training for my first competition. I think I was his proverbial guinea pig! But since I had been gone from Moore he had spent countless hours reading, studying, and practicing the science and art of bodybuilding. He was able to instantly look at me after a year and tell me exactly what we needed to work on. We took 12 weeks to fine tune everything. I drove over 100 miles one way every week to have him check me out. Countless phone calls. He was always telling me “Don’t give up. It’s hard right now but it’ll pay off”.

Jon HustonOf course he was right. I finished first in the Novice Heavyweight class that year. In 2002 I finished second in the Open Light-Heavyweight, and in 2004 I finished first in the Open Light Heavyweight and second overall for the Mr. Oklahoma. Not a day goes by I don’t look at those trophies and think about how much work I had to put in but also how much he had to put in as well.

Jeremy is perhaps the most honest and giving person I have ever met: Bodybuilding or personally. I no longer compete as I have two small girls and various other hobbies that take up my time but I still lift.

And I still have that hat he bought for me that said “ONE MORE REP”. That was our motto!! Never quit. Push harder. That is all evident in the quality of athlete that he creates in 2008. Kudos to Mr. Jeremy Minihan!
